Ontario Allocates $93 Million to Enhance Air Ambulance Services

The Ontario government has announced a $93 million investment aimed at enhancing the Ornge Air Ambulance service. This funding will be used to add two larger, high-speed fixed-wing aircraft to the existing fleet and to construct a new hangar in Simcoe County. These upgrades are intended to improve the availability of pre-hospital care for residents in northern and rural communities across Ontario.

According to the Ontario government, the new aircraft are expected to enhance the efficiency of medical transport services, particularly in remote areas where access to healthcare facilities is limited. The construction of the new hangar is part of efforts to support the expanded fleet and improve operational logistics.

Ornge Air Ambulance provides critical medical transport services across the province, playing a vital role in the healthcare system. The investment is designed to strengthen these services, ensuring that residents in less accessible regions have improved access to urgent medical care.

This initiative is part of a broader strategy by the Ontario government to improve healthcare infrastructure and services throughout the province. The investment in Ornge Air Ambulance is anticipated to have a positive impact on the delivery of critical care services, especially in areas that currently face challenges in accessing such care.
