Ontario Advances Highway 413 Design, Land Release to Begin in 2025

The Ontario government has announced that the preliminary design for Highway 413 is 90% complete. This development allows the province to begin releasing land not required for the highway's construction. A total of 113 full and 57 partial properties have been identified as unnecessary for the project. The release of these lands is expected to start in 2025.

The design phase has determined the layout of major structures, interchanges, and crossings. This progress enables the province to return unneeded land to owners for various uses, including farming and residential purposes.

A 30-day public consultation period is open for feedback on proposed design refinements. Following this, the Ontario government plans to publish updates to the Focused Analysis Area (FAA) in early 2025. The construction of Highway 413 is scheduled to begin in 2025, with ongoing fieldwork assessing soil and bedrock conditions.

Highway 413 will connect Highway 400 to the Highway 401/407 interchange, spanning the regions of York, Peel, and Halton. This project is part of Ontario's broader $28 billion infrastructure plan aimed at addressing traffic congestion and supporting population growth in the Greater Golden Horseshoe area.
