Ontario Adds 23,000 Jobs in December

According to Statistics Canada, Ontario added 23,000 jobs in December 2024, bringing the total number of jobs created in the province for the year to over 200,000.

The job growth was observed across several key industries, including automotive, life sciences, technology, and advanced manufacturing. The Ontario government has facilitated this growth through investments in skills training, infrastructure projects, and initiatives aimed at reducing costs for businesses and individuals.

Significant contributions to job creation came from global companies such as Hitachi Rail, Roche Canada, Goodyear Canada, and Asahi Kasei, which have made notable investments in Ontario. Additionally, the Regional Development Program invested over $85 million, supporting 60 companies in eastern and southwestern Ontario and creating over 1,500 jobs.

These developments were highlighted in a statement by Vic Fedeli, Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade.
