The Clarington Public Library will host Newcomer Settlement Services at the Bowmanville Library on Tuesdays from September 10 to December 17, 2024, from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM. This program is designed for adults and requires registration.

In partnership with the Community Development Council Durham (CDCD), the program offers confidential and culturally sensitive information and referral services at no cost to newcomers, immigrants, and their families. Participants can book an appointment or walk in between 3 PM and 5 PM for assistance with various topics, including:

  • Immigration
  • Employment
  • Social assistance
  • Transportation
  • Legal services
  • Housing and landlord-tenant issues
  • Health care
  • Childcare
  • Education and language classes
  • Counseling
  • Financial supports
  • Government forms and ID applications (e.g., OHIP, driver's licenses)

Additionally, the program provides guidance on filling out government forms, understanding documents, and referrals to translation services.
