New Vaccine Disclosure Requirements for Council Members

On November 8, 2021, the Clarington General Government Committee passed a resolution regarding vaccine disclosure for council members. The resolution, moved by Mayor Foster and seconded by Councillor Hooper, states that the Mayor and Members of Council are required to disclose and provide proof of their COVID-19 vaccination status to the Manager of Human Resources by November 23, 2021. This requirement aligns with Clarington's Workplace COVID-19 Vaccine Policy (Policy H37), which mandates compliance from all municipal employees, including full-time, part-time, temporary, contract, casual, and student workers. The resolution emphasizes that council members, being physically present in municipal facilities, must adhere to the same standards as other municipal employees. Additionally, an amendment was added stating that failure to comply would result in council members being prohibited from entering municipal facilities.
