On August 27, 2024, Anita Anand, President of the Treasury Board, announced new measures to enhance productivity and reduce regulatory barriers. Anand will establish a working group to examine productivity and inform the government's economic plan. This group will attempt to address barriers to achieving greater efficiencies for businesses nationwide.

The federal government says they will introduce amendments to the Red Tape Reduction Act to broaden the use of regulatory sandboxes and continue advancing Bill S-6 through Parliament. Additionally, steps will be taken to remove barriers to interprovincial trade. On September 26, 2024, Ministers Anand and Dominic LeBlanc, Minister of Public Safety, Democratic Institutions and Intergovernmental Affairs, will meet with federal, provincial, and territorial ministers to discuss decreasing the costs of goods and services and allowing freer labor movement in Canada.
