Motorcycle Collision Leads to Charges in Ajax

On October 19, 2024, a collision occurred at the intersection of Rossland Road West and Ravenscroft Road in Ajax. A motorcycle collided with an SUV, after which the motorcycle driver fled the scene on foot. Durham Regional Police Service officers, assisted by Air1 and the K9 Unit, located the individual hiding near a ravine and took him into custody. The driver sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital in Toronto.

The individual, an adult male, faces several charges including obstructing a peace officer, leaving the scene of an accident, driving a motor vehicle without plates, driving without a license, failing to stop at a red light, and operating a motor vehicle without insurance. The Ontario Special Investigations Unit has invoked its mandate, and the Durham Regional Police Service is cooperating with the investigation.

Further details about the incident are not being released at this time due to the ongoing investigation by the Special Investigations Unit.
