MNR Proposes New Fishing Rules for Lower Ganaraska River

The Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) is proposing changes to recreational fishing rules on the lower Ganaraska River in Fisheries Management Zone 17. The proposed changes aim to protect migrating Chinook salmon during peak migration and extend angling opportunities for Atlantic salmon, brown trout, Pacific salmon, and rainbow trout in the fall season. These changes will not affect Indigenous communities' constitutionally protected fishing rights.

Residents can provide feedback on the proposed changes until August 22, 2024, through an online survey available on the Ontario government website. Additional feedback can be sent via email to FishPTBO@ontario.ca.
