Markham Resident Charged After Traffic Stop in Port Perry

On March 21, 2025, a 36-year-old male from Markham was arrested in Port Perry, Ontario. Officers from the North Division Community Response Team conducted a proactive patrol that led to a traffic stop at Island Road and The Mississaugas Trail. During the stop, officers observed drugs and drug paraphernalia, prompting the arrest of the driver.

A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a shotgun and additional drugs. Eric Young faces charges, including possession of a firearm without a license, possession of Schedule I substances for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine and fentanyl), possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number, and disobeying a court order, as per the Durham Region Police Service.

He is currently held in custody pending a bail hearing.
