Lakeridge Health Receives Awards for Organ and Tissue Donation Efforts

Lakeridge Health has been recognized with two awards from Ontario Health's Trillium Gift of Life Network for its contributions to organ and tissue donation during the 2023/2024 period. The awards were presented as part of the Hospital Achievement Awards.

In the past year, Lakeridge Health supported 13 organ donors, resulting in 42 transplants. Additionally, 96 tissue donors contributed to enhancing the lives of others. The hospital received the Provincial Eligible Approach Rate Award for the fourth time, achieving a 93% approach rate, surpassing the 90% target set by the Trillium Gift of Life Network.

Lakeridge Health also received the Award of Excellence for consistently meeting or exceeding the provincial target for eligible approach rates over the last four years. These awards highlight the hospital's commitment to best practices in organ and tissue donation.

Dr. Randy Wax, Chief of Staff at Lakeridge Health, and Cynthia Davis, President and CEO, expressed their appreciation for the hospital teams and the families who chose to donate, acknowledging the impact of their contributions on those awaiting transplants.
