Lakeridge Health and Grandview Kids Collaborate to Enhance Youth Healthcare in Durham
Lakeridge Health and Grandview Kids have entered a partnership aimed at expanding healthcare services for children and youth with developmental and physical disabilities in the Durham Region. This collaboration will be based in the Jerry Coughlan Building, the new headquarters for Grandview Kids, located in Ajax. It will include a specialized outpatient procedure room designed for sedation-supported medical procedures.
This initiative will allow Grandview Kids' physicians to perform medical procedures with the support of Lakeridge Health's surgical and anesthesia staff. The collaboration is expected to increase access to these services fourfold, as per statements from Lakeridge Health.
Cynthia Davis, President and CEO of Lakeridge Health, emphasized that this partnership is intended to create a more integrated experience for children, youth, and their families. Tom McHugh, CEO of Grandview Kids, acknowledged the extensive planning involved in establishing this service.
The development represents a significant expansion in local healthcare services, providing easier access to necessary medical care for children in need of specialized treatments.
