Jewelry Theft Suspects Arrested in Bowmanville
Four individuals have been charged following the theft of jewelry valued at over $250,000 from an Airbnb property in Bowmanville. The incident occurred on October 11, 2024, when police responded to a theft report in the area of Cove Road and West Beach Road. The suspects, who had reserved the Airbnb for the night of October 10, were apprehended after the property owner reported the missing jewelry.
The suspects were identified as Nicole Bobbi Herdsman, 35, of no fixed address, Marc Dominique Nicholas, 41, from Clarington, Roderick Richard Ayre, 37, from Oshawa, and John Weir, 38, from Clarington. Charges against them include possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 and theft over $5000. Herdsman and Weir also face charges for possession of a Schedule I substance (cocaine).
Herdsman, Nicholas, and Weir were released on an undertaking, while Ayre was held for a bail hearing. The jewelry was recovered from the suspects at the time of their arrest.
The investigation is ongoing, and police are seeking additional information from the public.
