Jean Perrin Cheeses Recalled Over E. coli Concerns
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has initiated a recall of Jean Perrin brand Morbier de Scey and Raclette de Scey cheeses due to a potential contamination with pathogenic E. coli.
Specific products involved in the recall are Morbier de Scey cheese with a UPC of 3324440317786, lot number 35112, and best before date of 06/03/2025. The Raclette de Scey cheese's UPC is 3324440418896, lot number 35511, and best before date of 10/03/2025. Each of these cheeses is typically available in variable sizes around 7 kg.
These cheeses were distributed through various retailers and may have been sold both in clerk-served settings or as repackaged items, which could lack specific brand or product information.
Consumption of products contaminated with E. coli can cause symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea, posing serious health risks. Although no illnesses have been reported in connection with these items, consumers should exercise caution.
Consumers are advised by the CFIA not to consume the recalled cheeses. Instead, they should check for these products in their homes and either dispose of them or return them to the place of purchase for a refund.
The recall was prompted by information arising from a similar alert in another country.
