Investigation Underway for Attempted Vehicle Theft in Whitby

Police are investigating an attempted vehicle theft that occurred in Whitby on September 17, 2024. At approximately 6:05 a.m., officers from the Central West Division responded to a break-and-enter at a residence located near Closson Drive and Des Newman Boulevard.

According to the police report, three males accessed the garage of the home using a garage door opener that had been left in a Lexus sedan, which they had previously stolen from the same residence. The suspects attempted to steal a Range Rover SUV parked in the garage but were unable to gain access. They also attempted to enter the residence but were unsuccessful.

The suspects were seen fleeing the scene in a white Lexus sedan. Descriptions of the suspects are as follows:

  • Suspect 1: Male, White, approximately 5’10”, slim build, wearing a black face mask, dark sweater, blue pajama pants, and black shoes.
  • Suspect 2: Male, White, approximately 5’10”, slim build, wearing a dark green hoodie, dark green track pants, and black shoes.
  • Suspect 3: Male, White, approximately 5’10”, medium build, wearing a blue mask, white hoodie, blue jeans, and black shoes.

Authorities are requesting that anyone with cell phone, dashcam, or surveillance footage, or any information regarding this incident, contact D/Cst.
