Investigation Underway After Shots Fired in Oshawa

Police are investigating an incident involving gunfire that occurred early Wednesday morning in Oshawa. At approximately 2:05 a.m. on December 18, 2024, officers from the Central East Division responded to reports of gunshots in the vicinity of Mary Street North and Taunton Road East. Upon arrival, officers discovered several shell casings at the scene. Fortunately, no physical injuries have been reported at this time.

A thorough canvass of the area revealed that multiple residences had been struck by bullets. Residents were present in their homes during the shooting, which posed a significant threat to their safety. Notably, a bullet was found in a child's bedroom beneath their bed; the child was not home at the time and remains unharmed.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are urging any witnesses or individuals with video footage to come forward. Information can be provided to D/Cst. Armstrong of the Central East Criminal Investigations Branch. Additionally, anonymous tips can be submitted to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers, with the possibility of a cash reward for information leading to an arrest.
