Investigation Underway After False School Shooting Report in Courtice
On November 7, 2024, Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) responded to a false report of an active shooter at Courtice Secondary School, located at 1717 Nash Road in Clarington. The report, received by a third-party agency, claimed an active shooter was present at the school.
Police, including the Tactical Support Unit, arrived at the scene and worked with school staff to initiate a lockdown. A thorough search of the premises confirmed there was no active shooter or victims. The report was determined to be false.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
