Health Canada has released a report summarizing feedback from public consultations on the proposed Safe Long-Term Care Act. The consultations highlighted the preference for aging at home with necessary supports and the need for high-quality, safe long-term care when required. Key priorities identified include treating long-term care as part of a continuum of care, inclusivity, workforce support, culturally-safe and trauma-informed care, and increased transparency and accountability.

The report includes input from over 5,000 participants, including health care organizations, academics, long-term care residents, staff, caregivers, provinces, territories, and Indigenous partners.
