Handgun and Stolen Vehicle Seized in Oshawa Arrest

A handgun equipped with a 9 mm overcapacity drum magazine was seized following an arrest in Oshawa on September 14, 2024. The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. when officers from the Central East Division attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle. The driver did not stop and fled the scene. With assistance from Air1, police located the vehicle parked nearby. As officers approached, the driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot. After a brief pursuit, the suspect was apprehended without incident.

During the arrest, a loaded handgun with a prohibited overcapacity drum magazine was found and seized. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle involved was reported stolen.

Quintin Campbell, a 20-year-old resident of Oshawa, has been charged with multiple offenses, including:

  • Possession of a Loaded Firearm
  • Possession of a Firearm Without a License
  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Occupying a Motor Vehicle with a Firearm
  • Flight from Police
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
  • Possession Contrary to Order
  • Failure to Comply with a Release Order

Campbell has been held for a bail hearing. The police are requesting anyone with cell phone, dashcam, or surveillance footage related to the incident to come forward. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers.
