Gunfire Reported in Cannington, Police Seek Public Assistance
In the early hours of December 16, 2024, at around 3 a.m., officers from the North Division responded to reports of gunfire near Peace Street and Davidson Street in Cannington. Upon arrival, police discovered evidence of gunshots, including several shell casings.
Video footage from the vicinity captured the sound of gunfire, initially recording a sequence of six shots, followed by another nine shots after a brief pause. The Durham Region Police Service (DRPS) has indicated that they consider this to be an isolated incident, though the investigation is still ongoing.
The police are seeking assistance from the public. They are asking any witnesses who may have observed or heard anything unusual at the time of the incident to come forward. Additionally, they are requesting anyone with video footage of the event to provide it to the authorities.
