GRCA Announces Public Consultation and Tree Planting Initiatives
The Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority (GRCA) has announced the commencement of public consultations on the Draft Watershed-Based Resource Management Strategy. These consultations will continue until November 18, 2024. The strategy aims to assist the GRCA in improving the delivery of programs and services related to watershed management.
In addition, the GRCA has issued safety reminders for visitors to the Ganaraska Forest during ongoing logging operations. Visitors are advised to check the Ganaraska Forest Trails Map for any trail or road closures before planning their visit.
The GRCA has also received a donation of over $7,000 from Ten Thousand Villages Cobourg, which will fund the planting of more than 2,900 trees in the GRCA's catchment area in 2025. An equal amount will be donated to Tree Canada for tree planting across the country.
Residents are encouraged to explore the GRCA's eight available Conservation Areas and the Ganaraska Forest during the fall season. Day passes for the Ganaraska Forest can be purchased online.
