GRCA and Durham Region Update Clarington Floodplain Mapping

The Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority (GRCA) and the Regional Municipality of Durham are updating floodplain mapping for several areas in Clarington. These areas include Lovekin, Bouchette Point, Port Granby Creeks, and the northwest portion of the Ganaraska River. The current floodplain mapping is 46 years old.

A Public Information Centre (PIC) will be held to present the updated floodplain mapping. The event is scheduled for January 25, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Kendal Community Centre, located at 6742 Newtonville Rd, Kendal, ON. GRCA staff will give a presentation at 7:00 PM.

Draft floodplain mapping will be available on the GRCA website starting January 18, 2024. Comments can be submitted through the mapping viewer until February 18, 2024. The mapping viewer can be accessed via the project page link: http://tinyurl.com/durham-floodplain.

This project is partially funded by the Flood Hazard Identification & Mapping Program (FHIMP).
