GO Transit Newcastle Village Update: Demolition of Former Fire Hall

The General Government Committee of Clarington has directed staff to commence the demolition process of the former Newcastle fire hall located at 247 King Avenue East. This decision is part of the preparation for the sale of the property. The council also notified Metrolinx, the operator of GO Transit, about the termination of the lease agreement for the property, which is currently used as a bus turnaround. Metrolinx has been requested to collaborate with Clarington staff on public consultation and to implement a revised bus route to ensure continued transit service for Newcastle customers.
