Ganaraska Conservation Closes Forest and Properties Due to Ice Storm

The Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority (GRCA) has announced a temporary closure of the Ganaraska Forest along with all other GRCA properties due to a recent ice storm. The storm has caused ice accumulation and brings expected high winds, which pose safety risks.

According to the GRCA, these weather conditions could lead to hazards such as falling trees and limbs. As a precautionary measure, the public is advised against visiting the Ganaraska Forest and associated Conservation Areas until further notice.

The closure was notified on March 31, 2025, and will remain in place until conditions are deemed safe for public use. Residents are encouraged to monitor official GRCA communication channels for updates on reopening.
