Funding Approved for Baseline Road Reconstruction Project

The General Government Committee of Clarington approved funding for the reconstruction and urbanization of Baseline Road from Courtice Road to Trulls Road. The total funding amount is $3,344,172.19, which includes $540,977.22 allocated for secondary costs such as contract administration, inspection, material testing, contingencies, and net HST. An additional $317,109.33 is designated for design, utility relocations, and permits. The funding will be drawn from various Public Works Department Capital Accounts, including $2,500,000 from the Baseline Road Reconstruction account, $48,371.07 from the Municipal Capital Works Program Reserve Fund, and $795,801.12 from the Roads and Related Development Charges Reserve Fund. This project is part of Region of Durham Contract D2021-43, which also includes the Courtice Trunk Sanitary Sewer work. The resolution was moved by Mayor Foster and seconded by Councillor Zwart, and it was carried without opposition during the meeting held on March 21, 2022.
