Frozen Sweet Cream and D’Effe.t Pastries Recalled Due to Possible Salmonella
Alasko Foods Inc. has recalled Sweet Cream brand Pains au Chocolat and D’Effe.t brand Mini Chocolatines due to possible Salmonella contamination, according to the Canada Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). The recall was announced on June 9, 2024.
The CFIA advised that consumers should not consume the affected frozen pastries. The recall covers Sweet Cream brand Pains au Chocolat and D’Effe.t brand Mini Chocolatines.
According to the CFIA, food contaminated with Salmonella may not appear or smell spoiled but can still cause illness. Symptoms can include fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea.
The CFIA instructed consumers who have these recalled products to dispose of them or return them to the store where they were purchased. No illnesses related to these products had been reported at the time of the recall announcement.
The CFIA stated that its investigation may lead to additional recalls if more products are found to be affected.
