Fleet Diving Unit (Pacific) Completes Multinational Exercise

The Fleet Diving Unit (Pacific) has returned to Victoria, B.C., after participating in the Multinational Mine Warfare Exercise 24 (MN-MIWEX 24). This exercise was hosted by the Republic of Korea Navy from October 14 to 25, 2024, near Busan, South Korea. Eleven members of the unit, along with two support staff, took part in the exercise aboard the Republic of Korea Ship Cheon Wang Bong. The focus was on mine countermeasures and enhancing cooperation among participating nations.

The exercise involved 19 countries, including the United States, Australia, and the Philippines. The teams conducted drills to detect and neutralize mines, aiming to improve navigation safety and interoperability. A mine countermeasures symposium was also held prior to the operational phase of the exercise.

This year's MN-MIWEX 24 was part of Operation HORIZON, which is Canada's mission to promote peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region. The operation allows the Royal Canadian Navy to work closely with partners and allies, strengthening regional security.
