February 2025 Sees Continuing Increase in New Housing Prices

Statistics Canada reports that the New Housing Price Index (NHPI) increased by 0.2% in February 2025. This follows a 0.1% rise in January.

This modest growth in new home prices was predominantly observed in the major urban areas of Toronto and Vancouver. Prices in these cities have shown an upward trend, which significantly contributed to the national increase recorded for February.

The NHPI, which reflects changes in contractors' selling prices of new houses, offers insight into regional housing market variations. The data indicate stable pricing trends in other urban regions of the country, contrasting with the more pronounced increases in Toronto and Vancouver.
