Efforts to Preserve and Repurpose Camp 30 Heritage Site

Marilyn Morawetz from the Jury Lands Foundation addressed the General Government Committee on January 10, 2022, regarding the preservation and repurposing of the Camp 30 heritage site. She expressed gratitude to the council for their ongoing support and requested a meeting with municipal staff, including the Solicitor, to discuss the legal agreement and the foundation's stewardship obligations. Morawetz highlighted that the cafeteria building and two acres of land have been transferred to the municipality and raised concerns about the stability and security of the remaining buildings. She sought council's guidance on how the landowner's financial transfer could assist the foundation in fundraising and pursuing grants. Additionally, she requested confirmation from the municipality regarding the foundation's future obligations as stewards of the heritage park and buildings.
