Efforts to Address Family Physician Shortage in Clarington

The Municipality of Clarington is addressing the shortage of family physicians in the area, which is a concern shared across Ontario. As part of the 2024-27 Clarington Strategic Plan, the municipality is implementing measures to attract more doctors to meet the needs of its growing population. This includes the approval of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Region of Durham to develop a Family Physician Recruitment Program. Additionally, municipal staff have been directed to create an incentive program aimed at encouraging physicians to practice in Clarington's medical clinics. These efforts are intended to enhance access to medical practitioners and healthcare services for residents.
