Economic Development Services in Clarington

On May 31, 2021, the General Government Committee discussed economic development services in Clarington. The committee directed staff to negotiate a renewal contract with the Clarington Board of Trade, which will require Council approval. The terms for this contract are outlined in section 7.4 of the report CAO-003-21. Additionally, staff were instructed to retain a consultant to prepare an Economic Development Strategy at an estimated cost of $50,000, with up to 90% of the funding sourced from development charges. Furthermore, a full-time employee will be hired to assist with the delivery of economic development services, with the associated costs covered by a corresponding reduction in the Clarington Board of Trade contract.
