Durham Region Transit Launches Electric Buses in Emission Reduction Effort

Durham Region Transit (DRT) has introduced six electric buses as part of its E-Mission Zero program. This initiative is aimed at achieving zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2037 through a sustainable network of vehicles, infrastructure, and facilities.

These battery electric buses represent the initial phase in DRT's plan to transition to a full fleet of zero-emission buses. The program is designed to assess and plan for this transition, ensuring that DRT can meet its environmental targets.

The new buses will be integrated into the current transit system, allowing DRT to evaluate their performance and impact on emissions reduction. This step is part of a broader strategy to enhance sustainability within the region's public transportation network.
