Durham Region Retains Triple A Credit Rating from Moody’s

The Regional Municipality of Durham has once again been awarded a Triple A credit rating by Moody's Investors Service, marking a consistent achievement for 32 consecutive years. This places Durham among an exclusive group of only eight Canadian municipalities with this rating.

Moody's credit assessment highlights Durham's strong fiscal management, significant liquidity, and low levels of debt. This high credit rating is viewed as a benefit by helping to lower long-term borrowing costs, which can facilitate effective financial management during projects requiring substantial investment.

Comments from regional officials include those from John Henry, Regional Chair and CEO, who sees the rating as a testament to sustained financial planning efforts. Additionally, Finance Commissioner Nancy Taylor emphasizes the positive impact of this rating for local residents and businesses.

Officials plan to continue adhering to their financial strategies to maintain this stable outlook.
