Durham Region Plans Sanitary Sewage Pumping Station for Beaverton Employment Area
The Regional Municipality of Durham is conducting a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) Study to plan for the sanitary sewerage servicing needs of the Beaverton Employment Area. The study aims to identify and review various alternative sites for a Sanitary Sewage Pumping Station (SSPS) and select a preferred alternative to service existing non-serviced areas and accommodate future growth in Beaverton.
Currently, the Beaverton Employment Area is largely undeveloped and relies on private sewage systems. The MCEA study will follow the planning and design process for Schedule 'B' projects as described in the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Document (as amended in 2015).
The Regional Municipality of Durham, along with consulting team Ainley and Associates Limited, will hold a virtual Public Information Centre (PIC) on July 25, 2024. The PIC will provide an opportunity for the public to review the study background, existing conditions, problems, opportunities, and the recommended solution. All PIC materials will be available for review and download, and public comments are encouraged until September 23, 2024.
