Durham Region Plans Poverty Response Program
The Regional Municipality of Durham has announced the development of a Poverty Response Program (PRP) on October 17, coinciding with the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. The PRP aims to address the increasing number of people experiencing poverty in the region by outlining actions to support poverty reduction.
The program is being developed by Durham Region Social Services and the Health Department, with the assistance of Davis Pier Consulting. It will involve collaboration with the community, service providers, community partners, and individuals with lived experience of poverty.
The initiative seeks to gain a better understanding of poverty in Durham Region and to create actionable solutions. Engagement opportunities will be available to the public to help inform the program, and details of these will be shared when available.
