Durham Region Plans Expansion of Ajax Water Supply Plant

The Region of Durham is conducting a Class Environmental Assessment Addendum for the Ajax Water Supply Plant located at 75 Lake Driveway East in the Town of Ajax. This project aims to expand the existing water supply plant to meet increased demand due to community growth. The assessment, which began on October 24, is a continuation of a 1991 study and is expected to be a multi-year project.

The assessment will explore various alternatives to expand the facility while minimizing risks to the community and environment. The project supports the Region's commitment to providing high-quality treated water for the Ajax/Pickering and Whitby/Oshawa/Courtice Water Supply Systems. Timelines for the project may change, and the public will be notified accordingly.
