Earlier this year, the Region of Durham installed a hardened centre line on Old Brock Road at the intersection of Brock Road in the City of Pickering. This installation is part of a pilot project aimed at guiding northbound left-turn movements from Brock Road into the receiving lane. The hardened centre line consists of a 3-inch-high rubber speed bump placed on the centre line of the road, extending approximately 14 metres away from the intersection.

This pilot project will be in place until October and is scheduled to resume in spring 2025. The initiative is part of the Durham Vision Zero road safety program, which aims to reduce and ultimately eliminate all fatalities and injuries caused by collisions on the road system.
