Durham Region Hosts 'Together We Rise' Black History Month Event

Durham Region will host a Black History Month event on February 5, 2025. The event, titled 'Together We Rise Durham: Resistance, Resilience, Possibility,' will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Audley Recreation Centre in Ajax.

The occasion will feature a keynote address by Dr. Andrew B. Campbell, as well as various performances and the presentation of awards to community figures. The event aims to honor the contributions of Black Canadians.

Jointly organized by The Regional Municipality of Durham along with other partners including the Durham Regional Police Service and various community organizations, the event is partially funded by TC Energy.

In a statement, John Henry, Regional Chair and Chief Executive Officer of Durham, highlighted the significance of addressing systemic barriers as part of the Black History Month activities.

Residents interested in attending the event are welcome to participate.
