Durham Region Directs $13.25 Million to Affordable Housing Projects

The Region of Durham has allocated $13.25 million to develop affordable rental housing in the area. This funding is sourced from the Region's At Home Incentive Program (AHIP).

Muslim Welfare Canada is set to receive $5,750,000 for the construction of 55 affordable seniors rental units in Courtice, Clarington. Additionally, 1465 King Street Inc. will use $4,812,000 to create 70 affordable rental units, also in Courtice, Clarington. In Port Perry, Scugog, Borelia Cooperative Homes Inc. will be granted $2,688,000 to develop 16 affordable rental housing units.

According to John Henry, Regional Chair and CEO, "The Region of Durham is working with private and public sector partners to create more affordable rental housing, so that more residents have a safe and affordable place to call home."

These projects are part of the regional efforts to increase the availability of affordable housing across different communities.
