Durham Region Calls for Sustainable Food Project Applications

The Region of Durham is accepting applications for the Sustainable Food Security Fund, which aims to improve access to nutritious food for residents facing food insecurity. According to information provided by the Region of Durham, the application window opens on March 24 and will remain open until the funding is fully allocated. Each funded project can receive up to $50,000.

The Region states that one in four households in Durham experiences food insecurity. The fund is designated for projects including market-style food banks, community gardens, nutrition education programs, and initiatives focused on food recovery.

This initiative intends to encourage sustainable solutions to food security, as well as enhance the capacity of current programs. Prospective applicants are urged to submit their applications promptly, given the limited funding available.
