Durham Police to Conduct Traffic Safety Blitz Near Schools

The Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) will be conducting its annual traffic safety blitz around neighbourhood schools in Durham Region as students return to class after summer holidays. The DRPS Traffic Services Branch, in collaboration with officers from all divisions, will conduct a zero-tolerance traffic enforcement campaign targeting school and community safety zones from September 3-6, 2024. The objective of this campaign is to ensure high officer visibility and proactive enforcement in and around school zones during the first week back to school. Additionally, on September 3, 2024, the DRPS will host a social media ride-along with the Traffic Services Branch, providing tips and answering public inquiries related to traffic. The public can follow this initiative on Twitter @DRPS.
