DRPS Swears In 13 Special Constables at Whitby Headquarters
The Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) reported that 13 new Special Constables were sworn in at a ceremony at Regional Headquarters in Whitby on February 12, 2024. According to the DRPS, the ceremony was attended by family members, friends, and police personnel.
DRPS stated that the new Special Constables completed the required training ahead of the official ceremony. The service described the duties of Special Constables as including security, prisoner management, and other responsibilities related to police facility operations.
Chief Todd Rollauer and Chief Paul Martin were present at the event, according to the DRPS media release.
