DRPS Polar Plunge Fundraiser to Benefit Special Olympics
The Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) will host the annual Polar Plunge event on Saturday, March 22, 2025. Scheduled to take place at the Tribute Communities Centre in Oshawa, located at 99 Athol Street East, the fundraiser aims to collect $50,000 for Special Olympics Ontario. This effort supports over 23,000 athletes province-wide. Last year, $25,000 was raised through the event.
The plunge will begin at 11:00 a.m. following check-in at 10:00 a.m. It involves participating in a pool plunge outside the main entrance. Registration requires a fee of $40, but this can be waived if a participant raises at least $100 in donations.
Community members and local organizations, including firefighters, paramedics, and businesses, are invited to join. The entire DRPS Command team will also participate, including Chief Peter Moreira.
Individuals may either register to participate or contribute through donations at the DRPS website.
