Driver Charged in Fatal Collision with 13-Year-Old Cyclist in Ajax
A 13-year-old cyclist was fatally injured in a collision in Ajax, as reported by the Durham Regional Police Service. The incident took place on November 7, 2024, involving a black 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe driven by a 44-year-old woman from Ajax. The vehicle was turning from Stevensgate Drive onto Rossland Road West when it struck the cyclist, who was traveling westbound through a marked crossride.
The driver was not injured and remained at the scene during the police investigation. On January 13, 2025, the driver was charged with Careless Driving Causing Death under the Highway Traffic Act.
