Darryl Lyons Appointed Deputy CAO of Planning and Infrastructure in Clarington

The Municipality of Clarington has appointed Darryl Lyons as the new Deputy Chief Administrative Officer of Planning and Infrastructure, effective October 7, 2024. Lyons previously served as the Deputy Director of Planning and Urban Design for the City of Markham. His responsibilities in Markham included leadership in development, parks, urban design, policy, and housing.

As Deputy CAO, Lyons will oversee various aspects of planning policy, community planning, building permits, development approvals, development engineering, and key infrastructure projects. Clarington's population is projected to grow significantly, from 105,000 to 221,000 by 2051, which will require effective planning and infrastructure management.
