Critical Condition for Pedestrian Struck by Vehicle in Whitby

A 23-year-old female pedestrian is in critical condition following a collision with a vehicle in Whitby. The incident occurred on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at approximately 6:20 a.m. at Consumer Drive, just east of Paisley Court. According to the Durham Regional Police Service, the woman had just exited a bus and was crossing the street when she was struck by a vehicle that allegedly ran a red light. The vehicle fled the scene and was last seen traveling westbound on Victoria Street West from Brock Street South.

The injured pedestrian was transported to a trauma hospital in Toronto with life-threatening injuries. The police are currently searching for a 2010 four-door silver Jaguar XF, which may have damage to the front passenger-side corner.

Members of the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct an investigation, which resulted in road closures for several hours to collect evidence.
