Councillor Zwart Appointed as Alternate Member to Durham Regional Council

On October 16, 2023, the General Government Committee of Clarington appointed Councillor Zwart as the Municipality of Clarington’s alternate member to Durham Regional Council. This decision was made in accordance with Section 268 (1) of the Municipal Act, which allows local councils to appoint one of their members as an alternate to the upper-tier council. The appointment enables Councillor Zwart to act in place of the Mayor or one of the Clarington Regional Councillors when they are unable to attend a meeting of the Regional Council. The resolution was moved by Councillor Woo and seconded by Councillor Anderson, and it was carried unanimously.
