Community Naming Contest for New Long-term Care Home in Pickering

The Region of Durham is constructing a new long-term care home in the City of Pickering, supported by the Province of Ontario. This facility will have 200 beds and is located in the Seaton community, situated between Brock Road and Whites Road. The projected opening date is fall 2026. The home will feature various common spaces, including a bank, store, hair salon, worship centre, and fitness area, along with a main space for resident social interactions and a dementia-friendly design. Community members are invited to participate in a naming contest for the new facility. Residents can vote on names proposed by local community members until July 29, 2024, through the Your Durham website. This initiative aims to capture the spirit of the Seaton community and engage residents in shaping the future of their community.
