Commercial Vehicle Safety Inspections Lead to Multiple Charges

The Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS), in collaboration with the Ontario Ministry of Transportation and the Ontario Provincial Police, conducted a commercial vehicle safety initiative across Durham Region. This initiative, which spanned three days starting November 19, 2024, involved the inspection of 172 trucks. Of these, 22 trucks were taken out of service due to safety violations such as improper brakes and insecure loads. Additionally, officers issued 100 charges related to mechanical and document infractions. The DRPS has indicated that such initiatives will continue throughout the year to address commercial vehicle safety concerns.
