CLMA Announces Launch of 'Golden Tales'

The Clarington Library, Museums & Archives (CLMA) has announced the launch of "Golden Tales: Chronicles of Our Community." This event is scheduled for March 22, 2025, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Sarah Jane Williams Heritage Centre located in Bowmanville.

The "Golden Tales" project captures the narratives and portraits of local seniors within the Municipality of Clarington. These stories, documenting personal experiences, were collected through community engagement from October 2024 to March 2025.

Tenzin Shomar, Chair of the Clarington Public Library Board, emphasized the project’s role in documenting the region’s historical ties to agriculture.

Project Lead Lee Higginson noted the depth and value of the shared stories, highlighting the participants’ willingness to contribute.

The initiative was supported by funding from the Ontario Seniors Community Grant Program, according to CLMA.
