Clarington Woman Arrested on Canada-Wide Warrant for Child Abduction
A female from Clarington has been arrested in Manitoba on a Canada-wide warrant related to child abduction. The arrest occurred on September 25, 2024, after members of the RCMP located the individual and her three children in Fort Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan.
The investigation began in December 2023 when Durham Region police initiated efforts to locate the mother and her children. Throughout the investigation, police reported no safety concerns for the children, but the mother ceased cooperation, prompting the issuance of the warrant.
Following her arrest, the female was transferred to Manitoba and later taken into custody by Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) investigators on October 2, 2024.
Astrid Marianne Schiller, age 54, faces charges of abduction by parent (three counts) and disobeying a lawful court order. She is currently held for a bail hearing.
